Microsoft Notepad App for Windows 10 Gets its Major Update in a Decade

Microsoft keeps updating the windows platform from time to time. But some of the first-party apps have been waiting for long in the queue to be updated. One such application is the Microsoft Notepad, but finally, it is getting the attention it deserves. After about a decade, windows notepad update is finally here.
In their official blog last week, Microsoft Windows Insider program employees Dona Sarkar & Brandon LeBlanc have mentioned a list of updated that they have introduced in Build 17666 of the Windows Insider Preview Build.

Improvements in Microsoft Windows Notepad Update

The following are some of the updated that we will see in the new notepad app for windows 10:

Wrap-around find/replace:

Microsoft Notepad Application finally gets the wrap-around find and replace features. In addition, it will also remember your previous selections and will auto-select them when you open the dialogue box the next time. In case you have selected certain text, then it will automatically appear in the search field when you open the find dialogue box.

Text Zoom:

Zooming in the text will now be possible in the new notepad app for windows 10. The zoom option is found in the View-> Zoom menu on the menu bar, and the zoom level is displayed on the status bar. Use Ctrl + Plus to zoom in, Ctrl + Minus to zoom out. Use Ctrl + mouse wheel scroll up to zoom in and Ctrl + mouse wheel scroll down to zoom out. Ctrl + 0 resets the zoom level to default settings.

Line and column numbers with word wrap:

The current version allows displaying the status bar only when we disable the word-wrap. After the current updates, Notepad will be able to display the status bar with the word-wrap enabled as well. The bar is on ‘visible status’ by default. However, you can change the visibility of the status bar from the View menu.
